Fanisleidy Martin Poteet, known to her clients as “Fanny,” is an associate attorney with a strong passion for family law and a deep commitment to the San Antonio community. Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida, Fanny’s unique cultural background has shaped her drive to provide compassionate legal representation to families in challenging legal situations.
Fanny holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Scholar and received several honors, including the Clinical Legal Education Association Clinic Award and the Marianist Green Award for her outstanding work in the Family Law Clinic. She also excelled as a staff writer for The Scholar St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Justice and demonstrated her advocacy skills by reaching the Quarterfinals in the Linda & Dave Schlueter Moot Court Competition and securing second place in the Wayne & Maxine Scott Negotiations Competition.
Before law school, Fanny earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Florida International University, balancing a full academic load with a full-time job. Her legal experience includes significant roles at the St. Mary’s Center for Legal and Social Justice’s Family Law Clinic, where she represented clients and managed over 500 hours of public service work. She also gained diverse legal expertise through internships in estate planning, probate, and criminal defense.
