TX Law Advisor (txlawadvisor.com)
Effective Date: May 3, 2026
Last Updated: May 3, 2026
TX Law Advisor exists to help Texans find legal help with clarity and confidence. Reviews can provide valuable context—but only when they are honest, fair, and compliant. These Review Guidelines explain what we allow, what we remove, and how our moderation works.
By submitting a review on TX Law Advisor, you agree to follow these Guidelines and our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1) What Reviews Are (and Are Not)
Reviews are:
- A way for clients and members of the public to share first-hand experiences with a law firm or attorney.
- A source of general feedback about service, communication, professionalism, billing transparency, timeliness, and overall experience.
Reviews are not:
- A substitute for legal advice.
- A place to publish confidential communications, evidence, pleadings, settlement terms, or private documents.
- A courtroom—TX Law Advisor does not adjudicate facts, fault, malpractice, ethics complaints, or legal outcomes.
2) Core Requirements for Posting a Review
To be eligible for publication, your review must meet all of the following:
2.1 First-hand experience
You must have direct, personal experience with the firm or attorney (for example, as a client, prospective client, opposing party, witness, or professional counterpart).
2.2 Honest and accurate
Reviews must be truthful to the best of your knowledge and must not misrepresent events, identity, or relationship to the firm.
2.3 Specific, relevant, and useful
Reviews should focus on the reviewer’s experience with the firm—communication, responsiveness, professionalism, clarity, process, and similar real-world factors.
2.4 Appropriate tone
Strong criticism is allowed, but harassment is not. Reviews must remain respectful and non-threatening.
3) What We Do Not Allow (Removed or Not Published)
We reserve the right to reject, edit for clarity/formatting, or remove reviews for any reason consistent with our policies. The following content is not allowed and will typically be removed or not published:
3.1 Spam, promotion, and irrelevant content
- Advertising, solicitation, referral codes, affiliate links
- SEO content, keyword stuffing, or repetitive text
- Reviews that don’t relate to the attorney/firm listed
3.2 Fake, fabricated, or coordinated reviews
- Reviews posted without first-hand experience
- Reviews posted on behalf of someone else (unless clearly identified and permitted)
- Purchased reviews or “review-for-discount” arrangements
- Coordinated review campaigns intended to manipulate ratings (“review brigading”)
3.3 Defamation, harassment, hate, and threats
- Personal attacks, insults, slurs, or hateful content
- Threats of violence or intimidation
- Doxxing or encouraging others to harass a firm, lawyer, staff member, or reviewer
3.4 Confidential, privileged, or sensitive information
Do not include:
- Attorney–client communications
- Case strategy, private documents, discovery, settlement terms
- Medical information or financial account numbers
- Home addresses, driver’s license numbers, SSNs, or other sensitive identifiers
- Information about minors
If a review includes sensitive information, it may be rejected or edited to remove it—or removed entirely.
3.5 Ongoing legal disputes, gag orders, or court restrictions
If you are subject to a court order, protective order, nondisclosure obligation, or confidentiality agreement, you are responsible for complying. We may remove content that appears to violate restrictions.
3.6 Impersonation or misrepresentation
- Claiming to be a client when you are not
- Pretending to be an attorney, staff member, judge, or public official
- Misrepresenting your identity or relationship to the firm
3.7 Extortion, coercion, or quid pro quo
We do not allow:
- “Remove this review or I’ll…”
- “Pay me and I’ll take it down”
- “Give me a refund and I’ll change it”
- Demands for free services in exchange for removing a review
3.8 Testimonials and advertising compliance risks (Texas attorneys)
Because Texas attorney advertising rules can be strict, we may remove or limit reviews that:
- Make unverifiable success claims (“guaranteed outcome,” “always wins,” etc.)
- Imply improper specialization or certification
- Appear to be an attorney-created or attorney-directed testimonial intended as advertising rather than genuine feedback
Note: We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice, but we do operate the directory with strong compliance principles in mind.
4) Moderation Process (How Reviews Are Approved)
4.1 Pre-publication moderation
All reviews are moderated before they appear. We screen for:
- spam and manipulation patterns
- prohibited content (above)
- confidentiality and privacy risks
- obvious impersonation or conflicts
4.2 Editing for safety and clarity
We may edit reviews only to:
- remove personal data, confidential details, or prohibited content
- correct formatting for readability (paragraph breaks, basic punctuation)
- remove links or phone numbers
We do not edit reviews to change the meaning or “improve” a firm’s rating. If the issue is substantive, we will reject the review rather than rewrite it.
4.3 Timing
Moderation time can vary based on volume and complexity. Some reviews may require additional checks.
4.4 Removal after publication
A review may be removed later if:
- we receive credible evidence it violates these Guidelines
- it becomes a privacy/confidentiality risk
- it appears fraudulent or coordinated
- it is required by law or valid legal process
5) One-Review Policy and Anti-Manipulation Rules
5.1 One review per person per listing
We generally allow one review per user per attorney listing. We may allow an update to your review if:
- a meaningful change occurred in your experience, or
- you need to correct a factual mistake.
5.2 No brigading or coordinated campaigns
We do not allow organized review campaigns intended to artificially increase or decrease ratings. This includes:
- encouraging employees, friends, or third parties to post reviews without first-hand experience
- mass-posting reviews after disputes, litigation, or online conflicts
- reciprocal review trades
5.3 Technical fraud prevention
To protect the directory, we may use technical signals like IP patterns, device fingerprints, timing clusters, and behavioral indicators to detect suspicious activity. We may require verification steps or refuse publication when fraud is suspected.
6) Attorney/Firm Responses to Reviews
We may allow firms to respond to reviews. Responses must follow strict standards:
6.1 No confidential information
Attorneys must not disclose:
- client confidences
- privileged communications
- case facts that are not public
- any information that could reasonably identify a client if not already public
6.2 Professional tone
Responses should be calm, brief, and professional. We may remove responses that are harassing, threatening, retaliatory, or that escalate conflict.
6.3 No intimidation or retaliation
Any attempt to threaten, pressure, or retaliate against a reviewer through the platform may result in removal of content and/or account action.
7) Disputes About Reviews (How to Request Review Removal)
If you believe a review violates these Guidelines, you may request review evaluation by contacting:
Please include:
- the listing name and a link to the review (URL)
- a brief explanation of what guideline(s) you believe are violated
- any supporting context (without disclosing confidential client information)
We may request additional information. We do not guarantee removal simply because a firm disputes a review. We will apply these Guidelines consistently.
8) No Guarantee of Publication
TX Law Advisor may refuse to publish or may remove any review at any time in our discretion, consistent with our Terms and policies. We do not guarantee that every submitted review will be displayed.
9) Legal and Policy Notes
- TX Law Advisor is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
- Reviews reflect the opinions of individual users and do not represent endorsements by TX Law Advisor.
- We aim to honor professional advertising principles and Texas ethics rules when operating the directory, including avoiding misleading or noncompliant testimonial surfaces.
10) Updates to These Guidelines
We may update these Review Guidelines periodically. Updates will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the review system after changes constitutes acceptance.
