Advertising Policy

TX Law Advisor (txlawadvisor.com)
Operator: Lawless Media Ltd
Effective Date: May 3, 2026
Last Updated: May 3, 2026

This Advertising Policy (“Policy”) explains what advertising, sponsored content, “Featured” placements, badges, and promotional claims are allowed on TX Law Advisor and what will be rejected or removed. This Policy applies to all paid placements, including Pro Spotlight / Featured, display ads, sponsored modules, boosted listings, and any attorney-generated promotional content submitted through the Services (collectively, “Ads”).

This Policy is intended to support compliance with applicable law and professional responsibility rules, including the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct (including Rule 7.04). Attorneys and firms remain solely responsible for compliance. TX Law Advisor is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

1) Core Principles

1.1 Truthful, verifiable, and not misleading. Ads must be accurate, capable of substantiation, and not misleading by statement or omission.

1.2 No outcomes implied. Ads may not promise, guarantee, or imply results.

1.3 Clear separation of paid placement. Paid placements must be clearly distinguishable from standard listings. “Featured” and “Pro Spotlight” indicate paid promotional positioning, not endorsement.

1.4 Respect confidentiality and privacy. Ads must not reveal confidential information, case specifics that identify clients, or privileged communications.

1.5 Professional tone. Ads must maintain a professional, non-harassing tone and must not target individuals in a way that is exploitative or coercive.

2) What Requires Verification or Disclosures

2.1 “Board Certified” / TBLS badge (verification required)

  • Allowed only if verified by Operator/admin review.
  • You must provide documentation sufficient to confirm TBLS certification and the certified field(s).
  • “Board Certified” language must be limited to the specific TBLS-certified field.

Not allowed: “Board Certified” without TBLS verification or language implying certification in fields not certified.

2.2 Practice area claims

  • Practice areas are permitted if they accurately reflect the firm’s services.
  • “Specialist” wording is restricted (see Section 5).

2.3 Paid placement disclosure

  • Featured placements will display a Featured/Pro Spotlight indicator.
  • If you submit ad creative implying “top” or “recommended,” it will be rejected.

2.4 Testimonials and endorsements (special scrutiny)

  • Testimonials and quotes may be rejected if they:
    • contain outcome claims,
    • lack context or are likely to mislead,
    • imply guarantees,
    • violate Texas advertising rules on testimonials.

TX Law Advisor may require additional disclaimers or refuse testimonial-based ads entirely.

3) Required Disclaimers (when applicable)

Depending on ad content, we may require one or more of the following:

  • “Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.”
  • “This is attorney advertising.”
  • “Not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.” (where required or prudent)
  • “Results depend on the facts of each case.”
  • “No attorney–client relationship is formed by contacting us through this directory.”

If a disclaimer is required, it must be clear, readable, and not hidden (no tiny font, low contrast, or placement where it’s easily missed).

4) Prohibited Claims (Automatic Rejection)

The following claims or formats are not allowed and will be rejected or removed:

4.1 Guarantees and outcome promises

Examples (not allowed):

  • “Guaranteed win”
  • “We will get your case dismissed”
  • “Get the settlement you deserve”
  • “We always win”
  • “No jail time guaranteed”

4.2 Comparative superiority without objective substantiation

Examples (not allowed):

  • “Best lawyer in Texas”
  • “#1 firm” / “Top-ranked” (unless based on a reputable, current, verifiable ranking with citation—and even then may be restricted)
  • “Better than other attorneys”
  • “Most trusted” (without defensible methodology)

4.3 Misleading urgency, fear-based manipulation, or coercion

Examples (not allowed):

  • “Call now or you’ll go to jail”
  • “Only we can save you”
  • “You have no chance without us”
  • Using tragedy, disaster, or panic tactics

4.4 False specialization or improper “specialist” language

  • See Section 5.

4.5 Misrepresentation of identity or affiliation

Not allowed:

  • Implying you are a government agency, court, or official body
  • Implying certification or approval by TX Law Advisor
  • Implying TX Law Advisor “recommends” you

4.6 Prohibited content categories

Not allowed:

  • Hate, harassment, threats
  • Illegal services
  • Sexually explicit content
  • Malware, phishing, deceptive links
  • Content that violates privacy or confidentiality

5) Specialization, “Expert,” “Specialist,” and Certification Rules

5.1 “Specialist” language

Texas attorneys may not advertise themselves as a “specialist” unless certified by TBLS in that field.
TX Law Advisor will reject “specialist” claims unless TBLS certification is verified and the claim is limited to the certified field.

5.2 “Expert” and similar language

Words like “expert,” “authority,” “leading,” or “premier” can be misleading. We may reject or require disclaimers for such claims, especially when:

  • they imply superiority,
  • they are unsupported,
  • they are tied to outcomes.

5.3 Board certification

“Board Certified” claims require admin verification (TBLS).
We may remove the badge if certification cannot be maintained.

6) Case Results, Settlements, and Verdicts

Case results may be allowed only if presented in a compliant, non-misleading way, and may require:

  • context (date, court, case type, material factors)
  • clear disclaimers (“Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.”)
  • confirmation that publishing the result does not violate confidentiality or any agreement

We may reject case results content entirely if we believe it creates compliance risk or could mislead users.

7) Testimonials, Reviews, and Client Quotes

7.1 No fabricated or compensated testimonials unless clearly disclosed and allowed by law/rules.

7.2 No outcome-based testimonials that imply guaranteed results.

7.3 No confidential details or client-identifying case specifics.

7.4 Moderation and discretion. We may require substantiation, additional disclaimers, or refuse testimonial-based ads.

8) Badges and Labels Used on TX Law Advisor

Badges help users understand directory context. Badges may include:

  • Featured / Pro Spotlight (paid promotional placement; not endorsement)
  • Verified Representative (authorized user verified to manage the listing)
  • Board Certified (TBLS) (admin-verified)

Badges cannot be imitated or recreated in ad creative in a way that suggests TX Law Advisor endorsement or official designation beyond what we provide.

9) Targeting, Landing Pages, and Link Rules

9.1 Landing pages must be lawful and consistent. The destination URL must:

  • match the firm/advertiser identity,
  • not contain malware, deceptive popups, or phishing behavior,
  • not auto-download files without consent.

9.2 No cloaking. The content shown to users must match the content reviewed by TX Law Advisor.

9.3 No misleading redirects. You may not redirect users to unrelated offers or third parties without clear disclosure.

10) Restricted Content and Sensitive Topics

For certain practice areas (e.g., criminal defense, family law, immigration), we may apply enhanced scrutiny to ensure ads:

  • do not exploit fear or vulnerability,
  • do not promise outcomes,
  • remain factual and respectful.

11) Creative Specifications and Quality Standards

11.1 Readability. Text must be readable, properly contrasted, and not intentionally obscured.

11.2 Accuracy. Logos and names must correctly represent the firm advertising.

11.3 No deceptive design. Ads must not mimic system UI elements, warnings, “download” buttons, chat widgets, or verification badges.

11.4 No prohibited tracking. Ads must not deploy unauthorized tracking scripts or pixels through the creative itself.

12) Approval, Rejection, and Removal

12.1 Review and approval. All Ads and Featured placements are subject to review and approval at our discretion.

12.2 We may reject for any reason. We may reject or request modifications for compliance, quality, clarity, user safety, or reputational risk.

12.3 We may remove after approval. Approval is not permanent. We may pause or remove Ads if:

  • the ad becomes misleading,
  • the landing page changes,
  • we receive a credible complaint,
  • new information suggests noncompliance.

12.4 No guarantee of publication or performance. We do not guarantee placement availability, duration, impressions, clicks, leads, or outcomes unless stated in writing.

13) Advertiser Responsibilities

You agree that you are solely responsible for:

  • all claims and content in your Ads and Listing
  • compliance with Texas attorney advertising rules (including Rule 7.04 and related rules)
  • ensuring you have rights to all logos, trademarks, photos, and text used
  • ensuring no confidentiality obligations are breached
